Dala-Amanda Walther & Sheila Carabine
Dear Dala Patron,
I know you have been looking forward, as I have, to the performance by the duo Dala on May 4. We have recently heard some very good news about Dala member Amanda Walther: her first child is due in April. Although Amanda will have to cancel her spring tour because of the baby’s arrival, Dala hopes to plan another tour at some future time. The details, of course, will not be arranged for quite a while.
Fortunately, we have been able to book another wonderfully talented female ensemble, The Jammin’ Divas, for the same date and time: 4 p.m. on May 4. Similar to Dala, they write and perform original folk music, while at the same time showcasing their Irish, Australian, Israeli and American roots.
The Providence Phoenix calls the Jammin’ Divas “an international supergroup.” “Their harmonies are divine, and the songs contain enticing elements from the various cultural backgrounds,” says the Phoenix. “It’s an inspiring evening.” But the Jammin’ Divas not only win critical acclaim – they win raves from audiences, too.
To read more about these remarkable musicians and to get a glimpse of their artistry, please visit their web site at http://www.thejammindivas.com. I have also enclosed in this mailing a brief bio about each of the women. To make the day even more special we have arranged for The Divas to attend a reception in the lobby following the concert so that each of our patrons has the chance to meet Aoife, Nicole, Kath and Hadar in person.
Your Dala ticket will be honored at The Jammin’ Divas concert, so make sure you keep it. You will have the same seat you held for Dala. Remember that the concert is at the same date, time, and location with a café-style set-up: Sunday, May 4, 2014, 4 p.m., University Union.
I am confident that you will enjoy the concert by The Jammin’ Divas, and I greatly look forward to sharing May 4th with you. If you have any questions, please call me at 724.738.4499. Thank you for your participation in and support of our performing arts program.
