Start the tour at the Hofbrauhaus Restaurant enjoying authentic German cuisine and music. Choice of served meal below. Then we are off to the Carnegie Museum of Art where we will hear from Kurt Pitluga, SRU art faculty and Laurel Mitchell ’06, museum employee as they share an overview of restorations and reproductions. Docent tour featuring museum highlights will follow. At 4 p.m. Pitluga will take interested participants to the Heinz Chapel for an architectural tour and the chance to hear the amazing chapel organ.


Board bus at the Alumni House at 10:45 a.m.


Leave Oakland at 5:15 p.m.

Lunch options: bierwurst and bratwurst combo, wiener schnitzel (fried breaded pork cutlet), roasted chicken with spätzle or vegan burger with fries.

Erie Food and Heritage Tour

Learn the history and culture of Erie’s downtown area while enjoying delicious food from five locally owned restaurants, bakeries and specialty shops. Stroll through the heart of Erie’s business district, pass by legendary entertainment venues and visit establishments that have made a lasting imprint on the city. Following the food tour, we will reconvene at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center and learn about the 3,200 acres of Presque Isle and the many different forms of life that inhabit the peninsula. Finally, we will drive around the Isle to see the lighthouse and Perry Monument.


• $45 includes food, history tours and coach transportation

The bus boards at 10:15 a.m. at the SRU Alumni House and will depart Erie at 5:15 p.m.


The tour takes place rain or shine. This is a two-mile walking tour. Wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing.
